In
1685 the Italian violin virtuoso Arcangelo Corelli composed twelve
»Sonate da camera a tre« for two violins and basso continuo. During
Corellis lifetime some of his sonatas were transcribed for other
instruments. The arrangement of the four-movement Sonata Op. 2 No.5 for
three double basses was premiered in 1998. The transcription is friendly
for all players bass 1 and 2 require experience in thumb position.
