Sonata for violin and piano.
Difficulty: advanced.
In the sonata, Janet Beat juxtaposes two contrasting tempi: in the first
movement, the violin plays at a calm cantabile and the piano a vehement
scherzo. Both instruments unite in the second movement in a lullaby.
The mood of the first movement dominates the finale, although both
instruments united exchange the tempi.
