Edition for Violin solo.
Difficulty: advanced.
From the series »Violinissimo«.
Yet
another book of violin studies? Yes – but not just full of studies by
one composer, nor focusing on just one aspect of technique (such as
position changes or bowing exercises), but one that brings together
studies dealing with various challenges, by all sorts of composers. Some
of the »classics« feature here, of course: studies by Kayser, Kreutzer,
Dont and Mazas appear alongside less well-known pieces that will bring a
little variety to the routine of lessons. Any selection will have to
leave some things out – dealing with specific problems, intensive focus
on a particular subject – but this book offers studies on fundamental
aspects of violin technique encountered at intermediate level. Even
here, of course, the spectrum is broad, from simple legato to more
complex double-stopping studies. That means, however, that this book can
be a »companion« to students as they progress over considerable time.
