Mit wenigen Ausnahmen werden die Lieder in diesem Buch in Lagen vorgestellt, in denen die Melodie mit natürlichen Harmonien gespielt werden kann. Das Spielen der Melodien mit natürlichen Harmonien vor der Verwendung von gestoppten Fingersätzen ist für den Schüler von großem Nutzen, um die richtige Intonation zu entwickeln. Es ist auch sehr nützlich, um einen guten Bogenstil und einen klaren Klang zu entwickeln. Bevor die Melodien in der ersten (I) Position gespielt werden, sollten sie zunächst in der vierten (IV) Position unterrichtet werden, da dies eine natürlichere Position ist, in der der Daumen entspannt ist, die Finger sichtbar sind und die Dehnung für eine kleine Hand leichter ist.

With a few exceptions, the songs in this book are introduced in positions where the melody can be played with natural harmonics. Playing the melodies with natural harmonics before using stopped fingering is of great benefit to the student to develop correct intonation. Playing melodies in harmonics is also very useful to help develop a good bowing style and clarity of sound. Before playing the melodies in the first (I) position, they should first be taught in the fourth (IV) position as this is a more natural position where the thumb is relaxed, fingers visible, and the stretch easier for a small hand.
